From Start-to-Finish: A 1920s Themed Dinner Party

INTRO AND INVITATIONS:

In honor of my friend's 23rd birthday, I hosted a 1920s themed dinner party. While it wasn't a green themed event, the party's planning and execution had echo friendly elements dispersed throughout it.

Once you've chosen your date, time, and location, the next step is usually sending invitations. There are a couple of more green friendly options than the traditional paper invite. For an informal gathering, Facebook invites are a great option. To make your occasion a bit more formal, an ecard is great. PaperlessPost.com is my go to - they have a wide variety of free/low-cost cards that have simple, elegant, sophisticated designs.

For this party I wanted something that was sleek, had a Prohibition era edge to it, a type writer font (you'll see why later) and just a general glam feel. Here are some screen shots so that you can get a better sense:

I love that guests still have opportunity to "open" their envelopes. Not quite the same as taking something out of your mailbox and ripping it open, but definitely a nice touch.

Various envelopes and liners to match your invites.

The invite itself. This is just one of their many offerings. I liked the simplicity of it and the chandelier. Thought you might find something like this hanging in a Prohibition styled ballroom.

Your guests receive this response card and can just click right away on their answer. This makes tracking their responses much easier than waiting for, sifting through, and recording the responses sent on paper cards.

If you decide that your party demands paper invites, then seek out green friendly options. For example, look into buying cards that use recycled paper.
